HVAC SEO cost is the monthly fee a company pays for the search work meant to turn local searches into booked calls and install estimates, and the honest way to price it is against what sellers actually publish.
This page covers the survey data and the prices sellers post; the parent guide at HVAC SEO explains the work itself.
More Booked Installs is one of those sellers: local SEO is $2,500 a month with a 6-month minimum, stated on our pricing page.
HVAC SEO pricing: what the survey data shows
Ahrefs' survey of 439 SEO service providers, published in December 2023, put local SEO at an average of $1,557 a month, about $1,819 at agencies and $1,150 with freelancers, with SEO overall at $2,917.
Caveats: respondents are worldwide and from every industry, it is not an HVAC survey, and Ahrefs computed averages from the top of each respondent's price band, so they lean high.
The distribution matters more: $501 to $1,000 a month was the most common retainer band at 20.4% of respondents, 68.8% charged $2,000 or less, and among US and Canadian providers 79.1% charged at least $1,001.
Our research found no HVAC-specific average with a published method, so treat anyone quoting one as selling a number, not measuring it.
How much does SEO cost for HVAC companies, per the sellers who post prices?
Six HVAC and home-services sellers publish pricing that touches SEO, and the spread is wide.
Built-Right Digital lists SEO at $999 a month and SEO Plus at $3,499 (September 2026), and says advertising budgets are paid directly to the platforms.
HVAC Marketing Xperts' packages "start at $1500 a month" for the Silver tier on a 6-month commitment, with Gold at $2,200 and Platinum at $4,300 on 12-month commitments (September 2026).
RS Gonzales, which says it works exclusively with HVAC contractors, lists Grow at $2,200 a month with up to $5,000 a month of Google Ads spend billed direct to Google, then Accelerate at $3,500 and Dominate at $5,000 (September 2026).
Hook Agency lists local SEO at a starting price of $2,800 a month, and says it is usually the best fit for growth-mode contractors over $3 million in revenue (October 2026).
HVAC Webmasters publishes no plan prices, just a "$99 to Start! Call for Details" banner (September 2026).
99 Calls prices organic SEO per lead at a flat $54.99, with monthly packages from $99 plus a $249 setup and no contracts at any tier (September 2026).

What HVAC SEO packages actually bundle
A package is a named tier with a bundled scope, usually tied to a commitment, and the bundles differ more than the prices.
HVAC Marketing Xperts' Silver tier includes a new website build and up to one paid ads channel, RS Gonzales' tiers are built around ad-spend caps, and 99 Calls' packages are built around per-lead fees.
That is the tell when comparing quotes: a number that bundles a website is a website deal, a per-lead number is a lead deal, and neither is the monthly search work.
More Booked Installs does not sell by-the-article packages: the retainer is a monthly loop of profile work, service and city pages, listings, and a report tied to calls, described at HVAC SEO.
What a monthly fee should buy
- A named scope each month: profile, service and city pages, listings, fixes.
- A report tied to calls and estimates, not just keyword positions.
- Terms in writing: length, price, and what you own if you leave.
- Honest timing; some changes take months to show in Google.
What should end the conversation
- A guaranteed #1 or first-page ranking; Google says find someone else.
- A claimed special relationship or priority submit to Google; Google warns about it.
- A pitch that ad spend buys organic rankings; Google says advertising with Google has no effect on search presence.
- An "HVAC average" with no survey or method behind it.
The lines that get folded into an SEO quote
Websites are a separate line: on October 1, 2026, Squarespace listed its Basic plan at $25 a month ($19 billed annually) and WordPress.com listed Premium at $18 ($8 billed yearly).
HVAC-specific website vendors post low numbers too, as of October 2026: Cannone Marketing advertised "$199 setup. $49 per month", and Websites for HVAC's pricing page is titled "From $399/mo, No Contracts", with listed plans at $499 to $1,299 a month plus one-time build fees.
Agency-built sites run higher: Hook's standard website is $1,000 a month ($12,000 total split over 12 months), and Built-Right's standalone websites run $5,750 to $14,390 one time (October 2026).
Ad management is another line: Built-Right lists Google Ads at $999 a month and Meta at $1,999, Hook lists Meta ads starting at $3,000, and RS Gonzales' tiers carry ad-spend caps billed direct to each platform (September and October 2026).
More Booked Installs manages Meta ads at $3,000 a month flat plus a $2,500 one-time setup, with spend paid directly to Meta, and it does not manage Google Ads or Local Services Ads.
99 Calls' per-lead model is the outlier: a flat $54.99 per organic SEO lead; its posted $164 to $414 per Google Ads lead is its own client data over 12 months, self-reported, September 2026.
How long before the fee pays for itself
Google's SEO Starter Guide says some changes might take effect in a few hours and others could take several months, and to wait a few weeks before judging a change.
A 2017 Google video on hiring an SEO put it further out: in most cases, SEOs need four months to a year to implement improvements and then see potential benefit.
Neither source is about HVAC or map rankings, so plan the spend against your season: start in the shoulder, let rankings mature, judge at peak.
Illustrative: fund the work before the cooling peak
What the fee returns has no sourced benchmark either: any payback figure is a guess unless it runs your own close rate and average ticket, the math the budget guide at HVAC marketing cost walks through.
For scale only: plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning contractors (NAICS 238220) spent $1.85 billion on purchased advertising and promotional services in 2022, about 0.6% of the industry's $297.6 billion revenue (Census Bureau); that average includes big commercial firms, not a target for your shop.
The SBA's own blog says there is no hard-and-fast marketing budget.
Price-check these before you sign
Google's guidance on hiring an SEO, last updated June 5, 2026, says that if an SEO guarantees first place in search results, find someone else, and it warns against anyone alleging a special relationship with Google or a priority submit.
The same page says advertising with Google will not affect your site's presence in search results; guarantees get their own breakdown at HVAC SEO guarantees.
Contract terms vary more than the fees, from 12-month initial terms to no-contract tiers; the traps are covered at HVAC marketing agency red flags.
Google also advises granting only read access to Search Console at the audit stage, which shows how a provider handles your data before you owe a dollar.

How much does SEO typically cost?
Ahrefs' 2023 survey put SEO overall at $2,917 a month on average and local SEO at $1,557, by a method that leans high. Our research found no HVAC-specific average with a published method; posted prices below run from $99 a month (99 Calls) to $5,000 (RS Gonzales' top tier), in bundles that differ.

The guidance is: Google publishes its SEO Starter Guide and local-ranking help pages for anyone to follow. Doing what they describe is the cost, whether you pay a provider or spend your own hours.
How long are SEO contracts for HVAC companies?
Get the term in writing: RS Gonzales' terms run a 12-month initial term, HVAC Marketing Xperts lists 6- and 12-month commitments, Built-Right Digital defaults to 6 months for SEO, and 99 Calls advertises no contracts at any tier (all September 2026). More Booked Installs' 6-month minimum is stated up front.
Is it worth it to pay for SEO?
Run it against your own numbers: what a booked install is worth to you, and whether your profile and pages produce more calls each quarter. Expect months, not weeks; Google's starter guide says some changes take several months.
